The National Weather Service is looking for ECHOLINK check ins and welcome anyone and everyone who would benefit from using the ECHOLINK system. The new Iowa Wireless contesting station is now proudly working with the National Weather Service, and Jim Snapp NAØR in Des Moines, Iowa to coordinate efforts to use the new WØIW ECHOLINK repeater system.
Which is now on both
UHF & VHF bands. Located in Alleman, Iowa the repeater systems are at 300 feet and on those Northern TV towers that are 2000 feet tall.
The IWC & SKYWARN
The NWS is now using ECHOLINKin Des Moines, Iowa area on the WØIW repeater node # 3897 145.310- pll 114.8 If you can get on ECHOLINK please go to the WØIW node # 3897 and help the NWS out with relays & check ins during severe weather.
When severe weather threatens look for the NWS to be on the 145.310- WØIW repeater monitoring Echolink for check ins during bad weather events.
Both IWC ECHOLINK REPEATERS serve the Des Moines, Iowa area and out to about 50 miles reliably. The repeater frequencies are 145.310- pll 114.8 and the new UHF ECHOLINK repeater on 444.675+ pll tone 114.8. Both repeaters are owned by the IWC and are both signaling the WØIW call sign.
If you just want to monitor during severe weather that's fine as well please come in and help out by being another set of ears.
Please only transmit when necessary. The WØIW node can support up to 50 echo link stations.
